NTUC Finest at the Amara

I heard that NTUC Finest is opening at the Amara.

I'm over the moon. I can get all my herbs, cheese, bread and cold meats at this new place.

Soju Bang Korean Restaurant

Soju Bang is one of the many Korean restaurants on Tanjong Pagar Road. There are so many Korean places in Tanjong Pagar that one will be lost trying to choose a suitable one.

Some dishes we had:

Assortment of Kimchi

I don't really like kimchi. It is usually too sour for my taste. Preserved vegetables don't go well with my taste buds. This place had a good variety but nothing I particularly liked.

Bimbimbap

This is an assortment of vegetables with rice. The dish is mixed with a chilli pepper sauce to enhance its flavor. It tasted alright but nothing exciting.

Kimchi pancake

I found the pancake not crispy enough for my liking. 

Pork grilled

This was not grilled brown enough for me and was a sad grey color. If it was browned more and the fat more crisp, I'm sure it would have tasted much better. 

Most of the dishes were about $20. The bill for 4 of us came to about $85 and there was a lot of food. Soju Bang is reasonable priced but I'm not a big fan of Korean food. I find the flavors too one dimensional and the dishes too oily.

Fuchsia Lane

Fuchsia Lane is a boutique fashion shop that houses the collection of Vivienne Lin.

If you want to buy dresses and shoes that are unique, this is a place to go. The alteration of the piece to suit your figure comes free.

The shoes are handsewn are part of a new collection. They are really beautiful to look at.

Cellarbration

One of the bottle shops in the Tanjong Pagar Area.

The shop sells Beer, Spirits and Wine.

The Beer and Wine collection is pretty limited. Beers include your typical Tiger, Heineken and Corona. The Wine selection isn't very different from what you can find in a cold storage or NTUC e.g. Jacob Creek. It is a bit strange that they don't attempt to distinguish themselves from supermarket brands.

Among all alcoholic drinks in the shop, the liquor selection has the largest variety. There is an entire shelf of it. I'm not sure if the selection is reflective of the nature of alcohol consumption in Singapore.

The prices of the beers are pretty reasonable (especially in 24 pack as expected).

Made in Candy

Made in Candy claims to be Asia's first independent candy kitchen.

Walking past it in Tanjong Pagar and smelling sweet smells waft out of the shop does entice one to enter to take a peek. 

Candy can sometimes be seen handcrafted in the store. Its candy is sold in store in small packs or Jars in mixed flavours or single flavours.

The design of the candy can also be custom made if there is enough volume. This could make a good wedding bomboniere or gifts for large parties.

Restored Furniture Store and Cafe.
Nice spot for a chat and some tea.

Waffles with ice cream.

Cafe has excellent waffles and ice cream. I do strongly recommend the waffles with vanilla ice cream and homemade caramel. You can see the hints of black from the vanilla pod in the ice cream indicating the use of fresh vanilla pods.

Hot chocolate and Chai Latte with complimentary biscuits

I love the biscuits. Don't really recommend the chai latte though. I prefer the original indian chai latte made straight from boiling the spices.

Subsequent visit

Raisin Bagel with caramel cream cheese

This was a good sized bagel which was toasted nicely and came with a lovely caramel cream cheese. The salty sweet caramel cream cheese set this bagel apart. I wish this place opened earlier and did breakfast.
